Yoga Centre Detail
There is something a little suspect about yoga centres who espouse the virtues of kindness and charity whilst pocketing £15 a pop to attend a session. Not so The Special Yoga Centre. Not only does this place teach yoga, but it practices what it preaches – that is, the centre acts as a charity, a training ground and, above all, a community.
Yoga Courses are offered that immerse the participant into the essence of Yoga, both into its philosophical and practical aspects. During these Courses, a student is taught everything that is essential to maintain a regular practice.
The Course is informative, motivational and - above all - experiential. If the student then wishes to continue at HIYC, they may join another class to explore the subject in greater detail. In order to encourage long- term study at the Centre, there is a different theme and focus each week.
Intensive Courses are offered at various times in the year, for students interested in exploring the subtler aspects of the subject and in devoting more time to self practice. The Intensive Courses focus on developing postural skills and deepening students' understanding of Yoga philosophies.
The aspects include: Pranayama (balancing through breath); learning a more diverse array of Asanas in order to open specific blockages in body and mind; techniques to generate and store energy; & various tools used in meditation. The goal of these teachings is to increase understanding & provide resources to further develop one's practice.
